Copying from a PDF drags in smart quotes, odd dashes, non-breaking spaces and stray blank lines. Paste it below and all of that is fixed at once: typography is straightened, invisible spaces become normal ones, blank lines are dropped and the spacing is tidied. Nothing is uploaded.
Curly quotes become straight, en and em dashes become hyphens, and the ellipsis becomes three dots.
Non-breaking and other unusual spaces become normal ones, and double spaces are collapsed.
The empty lines a PDF scatters between paragraphs are removed, and the ends are trimmed.
Download this exact setup as a ready-made PDF paste cleaner profile. Give it a global hotkey in the Windows app and any text you copy from a PDF is cleaned the instant you paste. Same engine as above, entirely offline.
Paste the text above and the smart quotes, odd spaces and blank lines are fixed instantly. Copy the clean result, or export it as a profile for the Windows app to fix PDF text on a hotkey.
PDFs store text with typographic characters (curly quotes, special dashes and non-breaking spaces) and often break lines at the column width rather than at sentence ends. Pasting brings all of that along, which is why it looks messy.
This page keeps your line structure. If a PDF wrapped sentences across many short lines and you want them rejoined into flowing paragraphs, use the remove line breaks tool, which replaces the hard breaks with spaces.
